With the rapid adoption of the IEC 61850 standard by many US-based utilities, Distributed Event Recorders are becoming easier to create. Bruce’s presentation explains why the application of fault recorders could be the “tipping-point” for displacement of legacy systems with those based upon IEC 61850. This presentation also contains a brief introduction to both disturbance recording as well as IEC 61850 technology and then explains an example of problem-solving using disturbance recorders.
