— Akhtar Kalam, Professor and Leader of the Smart Energy Research Unit
Victoria University–Melbourne

Victoria University in Melbourne, Australia has an impressive engineering lab that replicates a nearby suburban substation. NovaTech Automation and our local channel partner, Adapt, are supporting this lab with equipment and training services.

According to Akhtar Kalam, Professor and Leader of the Smart Energy Research Unit at the University, “NovaTech Automation and ADAPT have donated an OrionLX+ and Orion I/O to Victoria University Zone Substation laboratory. They also presented a seminar on IEC 61850, which was attended by industry personnel, academic staff, and research students of major Victorian universities. This donation will help us to make advancements in teaching young engineers and industry professionals on the importance of Substation Automation Systems.” Jeremy Anderson, NovaTech Automation’s Director, Global Sales Engineering–Power Division adds, “This lab provides young engineers the opportunity to get hands-on experience with the latest substation automation technologies in the safety of a lab environment. When these engineers get into the field, they have already worked with the equipment and can make an immediate contribution.”
